Overview
Successful IT hardware retailer, Bytestock.com had been held back for years due to their previous agency being unable to overcome severe performance issues (amongst other issues). Without exaggeration, category pages would often take up to 2 minutes to load making the site practically unusable.
With a now tainted opinion of Magento from this experience, Bytestock had decided to replatform but approached outer/edge in a last-ditched attempt to make their Magento website usable.
We know that Magento 2 can in fact be a fast, well-performing and robust ecommerce platform - so with confidence, agreed to take on the project and turn it around.
After onboarding we started profiling their site using New Relic and quickly identified multiple bottlenecks. These included bad third-party modules and poorly implemented code by previous developers. Despite the customer having battled with these performance issues for such a long time, outer/edge were able to identify and resolve them in a matter of days.
With the plans to move away from Magento placed aside, Bytestock can now finally see the true potential in their website and are continuing to invest and move forward with ongoing development.
